Four members of our club travelled down to the KUGB Shotokan Cup in Chesterfield on the 2nd September, to compete in the National Individual Championships.
This is a competition only open to brown and black belts, unlike the National or Northern Region Championships, which allows students of a lower grade to compete.
Both Dylan Gibson and Niamh Duddridge reached the semi finals of their respective Junior Kata categories. Gemma Gibson fought well, but was unfortunate not to go through to the next round. Hannah Baird fought bravely for the first time in the over 5'3" category and competed in the Brown and Black Belt Girls Kata.
In all an enjoyable day, good friendly competition, and the chance to catch up with many karate friends.
